We are working to restore our first rescue truck -
the 1958 MACK B Model

WE NEED YOUR HELP - READ BELOW

In 1996 Ed Lannutti came to Wyndmoor Hose with a dream of fighting fires. Like any other volunteer, he was told he would need to earn FireFighter I certification, Hazardous Materials certification, and learn basic First Aid and CPR. While all members are required to earn the same initial certifications, most have a signficant advantage. Most have two hands.

Eddie is an example of a firefighter who has it in their heart. While he had only one hand you would never know it, as evidenced by his achievements at Wyndmoor Hose Company. Eddie was not only a great firefighter, relied upon by the entire membership, he was also a model instructor for fire prevention education. Ed set an example of what the ideal Wyndmoor member should be, what values they should hold, and what commitment they should strive to exhibit.

It was a shock to the membership, and the community as a whole, when Eddie's life was cut short just four years after joining the company, in 2000. As he did many other weekends, Eddie was enjoying himself while entertaining children at a party on a warm summer afternoon. However, suddenly, later that day Eddie succumbed to complications after a fall and passed away.

In lieu of flowers, the Lannutti family requested that donations be made to the Wyndmoor Hose Company in Eddie's honor. The response was overwhelming and the company ensured to keep the monies donated separate from the company's general accounts.

The Lannutti family requested that the money be used to buy a piece of equipment or something else for the department as a whole. However, instead of using the monies for a piece of equipment, it has been decided that the fund will be used in the restoration of the 1958 MACK Rescue truck to memorialize Eddie.

The truck will be used for years to come as a display piece for parades and community activities, and of course for children's parties and fire prevention programs. These are activities where Eddie has been most influential, and the company is honored to name this historic truck after Ed Lannutti.

Since 2008 we have been selling "Bring Back the Mack" T-SHIRTS to raise money for the Ed Lannutti Fund.

ALL PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO THE ED LANUTTI FUND.

The Ed Lannutti Fund is the ONLY source of funding being used to restore the 1958 MACK rescue truck.

NO OTHER FUNDS ARE BEING ALLOCATED TO THIS PROJECT.
